This large five star cosy self-catering holiday cottage is also perfect for groups, ramblers, photographers, artists, golfers or even as a base for those seeking more extreme sports such as mountain biking in Brechfa forest , coasteering, abseiling, quad biking, horse riding, fishing and much more. These activities are all within reach of Ash Tree Cottage.
The wheelchair friendly cottage, converted from a carpenters workshop is built with the larger family in mind. In recent years family and friends having a holiday together has become very popular, sharing activities, responsibilities and costs, so it was important to cater for all needs, able and less-able.
Less able holidaymaker's have also been greatly catered for within the property. It is a spacious, detached, ground floor cottage with wheel chair manoeuvrability throughout and bedrooms are structured in such a way to accommodate for every individual.
Ash Tree Cottage is situated outside the village of Llanfynydd, 12 miles from the market town of Carmarthen and 7 miles from the historical town of Llandeilo. Ash Tree Cottage is centrally located within easy reach of the coastline, historical landscapes, castles and leisure parks such as Oakwood Theme Park. The Secret Gardens of Aberglasney or The National Botanical Garden of Wales are all a short car journey away.
Ash Tree Cottage is surrounded by acres of beautiful gardens and fantastic views of the Towy Valley and Black Mountains. The five star Welsh Tourist Board graded property has a long sloping tree-lined driveway and backs onto a copse of ash, oak, larch, beech, silver birch and rowan trees beneath which grow an assortment of wild flowers. A great place for a picnic. Beyond this haven for birds, is a spacious field, complete with children’s swings, trampoline, activity trail, slides, balancing beams and tumble bars.

Cosy 5 star accessible self catering cottage
The spacious open plan living room with vaulted ceiling has a fully fitted kitchen, dining table. Hallway leads to one double and one king-size bedroom both disabled friendly. To the back of the property overlooking the field is the three- bedded room which has a bunk beds and single bed. Ash Tree Cottage is an Accessible Self Catering Cottage with a wet room oppersite the single room. There are two bathrooms, one with a bath/shower the other a wet room with level access shower. There is a separate utility room with washing machine and dryer. The end room is the adaptable games room.
The Games room can be adapted as additional space for the less able within the 8 persons by prior arrangement, incurring an extra cost. This wonderful living space is very versatile and can be maximised by all. All doors are wide, suitable for a wheelchair and ramped access to lounge is through french doors.
The cottage has plenty of room for dining with extendable table and chairs. The living room is very well lit but has additional soft mood lighting with lamps. With the Christmas tree lights on and the snow drop lights outside on the decking and entrance it's all you need for a very special time of year, whether you are a small or large family or group.

Wheel chair friendly path and ramps with decking around the property, to take advantage of the outstanding views. The decking area is a great place to relax and unwind, with garden furniture and hammocks to laze about on. The decking is right outside the patio doors, no steps, it continues around the property and extends into the wooded area behind the property. Full access all round with covered walkway back and front.
Children's play area with swings and trampoline situated in a two-acre field. A lockable cycle storage area is available for mountain bikes or car top boxes. There is also a facility for washing down muddy mountain bikes when you return from your forest trails. Two full support special needs swing seats for adults and children with harness's are available.

Accessible Self Catering Cottage for Disabled & Less-able Visitors
During the construction of Ash Tree Cottage we were very concerned that it should be a facility that everyone could use; able-bodied, elderly and wheelchair users. With this in mind we have taken as much advice as possible and hope that you will choose to book this disabled-friendly accessible self catering holiday cottage in Carmarthenshire.
The decking around the property is all ramped, as are the pathways; the decking extends right up to the wide-access French doors into the property. In some images it is sometimes hard to judge size so we have included an adult wheelchair to give you some idea; we hope this helps - please do not take offence.
The front and rear of the property is also laid with paving slabs. The covered walkway is ideal, giving additional shelter so you can enjoy the views and fresh air without getting sunburned or wet. There is a handrail which is also there for the elderly to use whilst moving around outside the property.
The living room and kitchen is open-plan and the hallway and doors are also wide. There are two bathrooms; one has been constructed with the disabled in mind, accessible level access wetroom. Wet rooms are perfect if you are going away and you have a disability. Even if you just have a minor mobility issue, a wet room while you're away means that you can be as independent as possible
The shower has no sides as the room has a completely sealed floor so it's called a "wet room". The shower is easy to operate and has a safety thermostat. The shower, toilet and sink all have grab rails. We can also hire additional aids if required: hoist, shower chair, commode, bed rail etc. We have to book them in advance so, if you do require them, please inform us as soon as you book Ash Tree Cottage.

All furniture is manoeuvrable. Our prices are based on up to 8 sharing 4 bedrooms. There is a playroom that can be converted into a 5th bedroom by prior arrangement, utilising the sofa bed, there is a set up fee for installation and removal. This does not mean extra quests can stay.
The other four bedrooms can also take a wheelchair; removing a bedside table can give more room in both the King Bedroom and the Double Bedroom - the latter being the larger of the two. The bunk room has 3 beds; a pair of bunk-beds and one single which is accessible from one side. The single room is also accessible for a wheelchair user who may also require a hoist and is the only room to have the added facility of a low wardrobe and drawers. Commode, shower chair, stool, bed-pull/ladder are available free of charge for you to use. However, the electric hoist has to be hired. We can collect it for you and have it in place for your arrival.
This accessible self catering cottage has a profiling bed with the benefit of being height adjustable with integral side rails it is placed in the single room. We have a second care bed that can be hired in special circumstances also and be placed in the playroom to make up a twin room for carer, or as a separate single. Please ask us about this if you require an alternative set up.
Whether you or a member of your family is physically disabled or you have an autistic child or autistic adult who requires lots of space, this place is very special; the views, the countryside, the birds, the big skies, all make for a memorable holiday with those special people in your lives in which time, and every single moment, is cherished.
