An exciting project is well underway in the stunning Tywi Valley with the former railway track between Carmarthen and Llandeilo being brought back to life as a major leisure and visitor attraction.
An exciting project is well underway in the stunning Tywi Valley with the former railway track between Carmarthen and Llandeilo being brought back to life as a major leisure and visitor attraction.
Providing a 16.7 miles traffic free path through one of the most scenic areas of Wales, it will follow an almost adjacent route to that of the River Tywi as it flows from Llandeilo to Carmarthen, through stunning scenery which takes in castles, country parks and historical estates as well as attractions including the National Botanic Gardens of Wales and Aberglasney Gardens.
Already well underway, with some sections of the path already completed, including a link between Abergwili and Whitemill. The highly anticipated section between Bishop's Palace and Nantgaredig is expected to be complete in early 2025 and construction is well underway on all other sections. All major works including the 2 new bridges are due to completed in 2025 with an opening in Autumn.
Please note: Bishop's Palace to Nantgaredig is now complete. Our advice is Park at Carmarthen Museum/Bishops Park and Gardens, and cycle or Walk or use your mobility scooters from that point. The reason being there is ample flat parking at the Bishops Park and Gardens, toilets and Staceys Kitchen where you can have a Latte, toasty and cake before or on your return, you could also visit the museum with free entry, it has a disabled lift for those with limited mobility.
